Top of the card bears a title REPUBLICA MOLDOVA – BULETIN DE IDENTITATE (Republic of Moldova – Identity Card) and country code MDA

The following are required to have an ID card: from birth until 10 years of age (the card can be issued without bearers photo), from 10 years of age until 16, from 16 years of age until 25, and from 25 years of age until 45. After 45 years of age, the ID card is not required to be renewed.

Moldovan citizens who decided to stay and work in Greece will have the opportunity to convert their driving licenses issued in the Republic of Moldova. The same possibility will be available to Greeks residing in Moldova. The Cabinet on Tuesday approved the ratification of the agreement on the mutual recognition and conversion of national driving licenses between the two states, IPN reports.

“Together with the other agreements that were already signed, the Government expands the list of countries that accept the conversion and mutual recognition of driving licenses on principles of reciprocity,” said Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros.

Thus, international road travel will be facilitated and persons will be able to drive legally in the two states. The licenses will be converted without the obligation to take a theory or a practical driving test.

The agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Hellenic Republic on the mutual recognition and conversion of driving licenses was concluded in Athens on July 2, 2024.

The Republic of Moldova signed treaties on the mutual recognition of driving licenses with Turkey, Lithuania, Italy, Albania, and Spain, and also a joint declaration of intent with Germany on the transcription of driving licenses.

Driving licenses issued by the Republic of Moldova and France will be mutually recognized. Today, the government adopted a decision to approve the agreement signed in July, in Paris, by the two countries. Moldovan citizens will not have to take theoretical and practical tests to have the right to drive in France, said the Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros.

He also said that the authorities will make efforts to expand the list of countries with which the Republic of Moldova has signed agreements on the mutual recognition of driver’s licenses.

“The approval of the agreement will allow the right to benefit from the mutual exchange of the driver’s license, without the need to support the theoretical or practical test of the holder with a driver’s license for vehicles with less than 10 seats. Such driver’s license holders who meet the upper mentioned requirements and intend to get a driver’s license by changing their country of residence, either the Republic of Moldova or France, will benefit from the simplified procedure and will save both time and financial resources”, a said Adrian Efros.

We remind you that the Republic of Moldova has already signed seven treaties of mutual recognition of driving licenses with Turkey, Lithuania, Italy, Albania, Spain, Greece now with France, and a joint declaration of intent with Germany, regarding the transcription of these documents.
